A Powerline Technician is a skilled tradesperson responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical power transmission and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance:
- Installing, maintaining, and removing power poles, transmission towers, and other structures.
- Constructing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines.
- Installing and maintaining transformers, switches, and other electrical equipment.
- Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Identifying and resolving faults in power systems.
- Repairing damaged power lines and equipment.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhering to strict safety regulations and industry standards.
- Using specialized tools and equipment to work safely on energized lines.
Apprenticeship Program
To become a certified Powerline Technician, you must complete a rigorous apprenticeship program. This program combines on-the-job training with in-school training.
On-the-Job Training:

In-School Training:
